đ Esther: The Brave Queen Who Saved Her People
Partager
A long time ago, in the land of Persia, there lived a young Jewish woman named Esther. She was raised by her cousin Mordecai after her parents died. She was kind, wise, and beautifulâinside and out.
One day, the king of Persia, Xerxes, held a royal search for a new queen. Out of all the young women in the empire, Esther was chosen to wear the crownâthough she kept her Jewish identity a secret, just as Mordecai advised.
A Wicked Plan
Not long after, a high-ranking official named Haman grew angry with Mordecaiâbecause Mordecai refused to bow down to him.
Haman was so furious, he didnât just want to punish Mordecai. He convinced the king to issue a decree to kill all the Jews in the kingdom.
When Mordecai found out, he sent a message to Esther:
âYou must go to the king and beg for our lives!â
Esther was afraid. In those days, going to the king without being summoned could mean deathâeven for the queen.
Courage in Crisis
But Mordecai said something that stirred Estherâs heart:
âWho knows? Maybe you were made queen for such a time as this.â
Esther made a bold decision. She fasted and prayed for three daysâand asked all the Jews in the city to do the same.
Then she put on her royal robes and approached the king.
The king extended his golden scepterâshe was safe.
The Great Reversal
Esther invited the king and Haman to two special banquets. At the second one, she revealed her secret:
âI am Jewish. And someone has plotted to destroy my people.â
The king was shocked.
âWho would dare do such a thing?!â
Esther turned and said,
âThat man⊠Haman.â
The king had Haman removed immediately, and issued a new law allowing the Jews to defend themselves. The Jews were saved!
Estherâs Legacy
Because of Estherâs bravery, an entire nation was rescued. To this day, Jewish people celebrate Purim, a festival that honors how God used a young queen to save her people.
Moral of the story:
Sometimes, God puts you in just the right place at just the right time to make a difference.
Courage can change history.
